If it's art that you want, you can find a plethora all over the city. The public installations are everywhere. This is just the most recent I have been to see this last week.
This installation is by a French artist called Charles Petillon. It is his first ever public work and first outside of France. Entitle 'Heartbeat', it is made up of 100, 000 white balloons illuminated in beats.

It is up in Covent Garden, the South Hall, from August 27- September 27 2015.
Go check it out if you're in town!
There are many other beautiful things that are incredibly accessible.
I had seen dozens of photos of a ceiling of umbrellas located in Borough Market but had not been successful in finding it until last Saturday! It is gorgeous and someday I will have an umbrella ceiling over a patio or something. Goals, you know?
And let me just say that London has ruined me forever. It is incredible that some of my favourite museums are FREE. The art, history and architecture that is available is astounding and would take months to fully appreciate. There are only a few museums left on my Museum Mile list that I still need to see. These places run on donations and I am all for giving what I can to keep them free!
The museum game is good IF you have time. If you're doing a quick few days, prioritise the big stuff. The touristy places in London usually live up to the hype so you shouldn't miss them. But if you happen to be in South Kensington, pop into the V&A or the Museum of Natural History. If you are on the southbank near the Millenium Bridge, go to the Tate Modern. Shopping your way down Oxford Street? Go to the British Museum!
When it's free, you can wander as long as you like or run in and out with little to zero guilt. Drop a few quid in the box on your way out. You won't regret it!
