When I was in Utah
11:30 PM
I am catching up, slowly but surely. I will be throwing these posts up whenever I feel like they are done even if it's out of chronological order (which is what has held me back) and it'll all sort itself out. Here goes!
Before Christmas, my dear sweet friend Valerie told me that she was getting married! I was overjoyed for her and immediately started to make calculations in my head. My second youngest brother was serving in the Mexico Tampico Mission at the time and he would be returning home around that time.... Could I go and be in Utah for both my best friend's wedding and my brother's homecoming???
My darling husband lovingly nodded his head when we had the dates straight. YES!!! Going to Utah for 10 days meant being there to witness a lovely union and party with my girl AND hanging out with my little bro in his awkward, back-to-speaking-English phase!
I flew in and out of Heathrow Airport (doesn't always happen that way since there are about 5 others that are 'near-by')
I got there with enough time to grab my favourite hot chocolate. EPIPHANY* as I write this post, I finally realised why I love Caffé Nero best...it is so similar to my fave 7eleven stuff! I mean, it's not the most amazing thing in the world but reliability of finding good stuff anywhere I go is a big plus in my book.
I left London at noon-ish. 11 hours later, I watched the sunset in California. How cool is that?
I've had mountains near me my whole life. Even 5 summers in Alaska meant living at the base of a mountain range. It takes me a long time to get my bearings without mountains. If I'm away from them, my heart hurts. So getting to Utah and getting to see the snow-capped Wasatch Mountain range made me smile.
Gorgeous desert sunsets...
After the initial pictures, no one was very close to hug and congratulate them. Don't worry, I took full advantage to run into her arms and be the first to crinkle her dress a little :)
After a couple days of just enjoying Utah and family time, the fated day arrived. Only two years coming...
I have a tiny video of me walking up to him to see his shocked face and his hilarious accusation "I KNEW YOU WOULD LIE TO ME" (when I learn to add video, I will haha *tech fail*) We laughed, we hugged, we cried. It was worth the jet lag as family always is.
Ruth got the colour I have always imagined. We've only been talking about it since I first started into the ombre/melt phase. And now she accomplished my dream hair. It would only be more perfect if she could do my hair every day.....
I love that my parents' legacy is summed up in a scripture in the Bible "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." -Joshua 24:15
If the McClurg's are near, I HAVE to see them. Jon is basically Taylor's other girlfriend. And I adore Susanna. It is going to be EASY to be best friends with them for the rest of our lives.
