Liberty Store London

The history of department stores has been an area of interest to me since I discover The Paradise BBC on Netflix over a year ago. It's a lovely series adaptation of Emile Zohla's novel Au Bonheur des Dames (The Ladies' Paradise).

But the Liberty Store is just a beautiful place
To greet you from the Argyll Street entrance are the gorgeous fresh flowers. There are attendants just inside the doors that will create arrangements on the spot or just offer some advice.

The Liberty has a very 'BBC The Paradise'-like story. In 1875 Arthur Lasenby borrowed £2,000 from his future Father in Law which was then repaid within 18 months! His vision of Liberty was to change the way people experienced shopping for homeware and fashion. Lasenby designed a destination point. Designed to make you feel at home and spend hours upon hours browsing and enjoying the scene.

With its Tudor Revival architecture, it's just as dreamy inside as it is outside! You NEED to see these chimneys in real life. The wood on the outside was timber from two ships. The side of the store that faces Great Marlborough Street is the same length as one of the ships: HMS Hindustan.

The levels and rooms all feel so separate which is perfect because each new room is a different experience.

The Christmas Room is ready for the huge Christmas season.
Living in Europe is fab for a person, such as myself, who has no issue with a lack of separation of American holidays. Christmas can start in September/October without the Halloween lovers and Thanksgiving purists complaining about getting skipped/forgotten/diluted.
If you are one of those, we can still be friends. Just don't hate on London's Christmas lights and displays that will go up in a matter of weeks :)

(this was taken weeks before the rest of the pics above. Different flowers. Same love and heart eyes from me!)
